Homemade TV Lift in bedroom

TV lift

tv lift mechanisms

Homemade TV lift built for my master bedroom. Everything used was available at just about any hardware store except for the power supply, remote control and actuator. The box is attached in the attic above the master bedroom and is built from particle board. The extending tray is mounted with 24 inch drawer slides and has the mount for the TV attached to it. The power supply is a simple 12v 6a power supply for a LCD monitor. The remote and 24 inch linear actuator is from Firgelli Automations.

Update:
Due to numerous sources of interference (police radio, security camera system, etc). I have removed the remote control for the TV lift and hardwired it to a switch near the light switch for the room. This was because some interference was causing the TV to extend or retract at random times. Got startled few times when it extended in the middle of the night.

    wow how slow

    1. pilot482 says

it takes 35 second to travel one way.  That seems slow if you are just watching it come down but we I am getting ready for bed you don’t even notice the time.  Plus it takes time for the tv to power on anyway.

Looks good! I just think it’s a bit noisy especially when you’re trying to go to sleep.

    1. pilot482 says

Yeah it is a bit noisier than I wanted but of course it only my noise when its moving.

  4. Stewart Anderson says

Very nice..  Is there a way I could get a detailed list of materials to make one myself? Thank you.

I will try my best here.  The box is made of particle board and the door has cabinet hinges and springs to close it.

-12volt power supply (standard laptop style 12v power supply to operate the actuator.  got it off amazon)

      -24in 150lbs linear actuator (http://www.firgelliauto.com/products/light-duty-rod-actuator)

-24in drawer slides from lowes (http://www.lowes.com/pd_380981-93052-TU99072G24_0__?productId=50041744&Ntt=drawer+slide&pl=1&currentURL=%3FNtt%3Ddrawer%2Bslide&facetInfo=)

-Switch.  Removed remote control due to interference(http://www.firgelliauto.com/products/rocker-switches-for-linear-actuators-momentary-and-sustaining)

      -Wall mount (http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=108&cp_id=10828&cs_id=1082801&p_id=5915&seq=1&format=2)

I Love it!  …and would love to get your input/copy your design for our bedroom.
I copy Mr. Anderson below, Are you comfortable sharing?
Like sources for for Motorized lift, motor, power supply. remote and actuator?
The trap door is straight forward enough it’s the assembly of components required to make the lift simple and reliable?
ie – How to program the TV on/Off switch top also actuate the lift
